Trouble playing and converting 3GP files recorded on Stream

Hi all,

I've had trouble with this as long as I've owned my Stream and can't seem to wrap my head around this conundrum. The issue is that when I record voice notes on the Stream, then want to listen to them on the computer or convert them into other, more versatile filetypes, I basically get an error saying there's something wrong with the tags in these files. I've opened them with Windows Media, Winamp, Quicktime, and Audacity, but no such luck. I've even tried uploading them to Zamzar, but I have the same problem there. As far as I know, my Stream's software is up-to-date, so that shouldn't be the issue. Any idea as to what might be going on and how I might remedy this problem?

Thanks,
Mel

The stream uses 3gp files, which cannot be opened by audio players. To play them or convert them to .wav format (which can obviously be converted to other formats afterword) use the humanware companion. This is the only way to convert these files.

Oh my gosh thank you!!!! Where can I find that? Can I get it free of charge, or does it cost?

Mel, it's free, but I don't know where you can get it. Maybe try the Humanware web site; they have downloads on there for most of their products. www.humanware.com

This is true. Go to www.humanware.com, then click support, stream, software, and download the program.

Cool! I figured that out. I've since downloaded it and attempted conversion of said troublesome files. Now it is telling me to make sure I have access to my SD card. 1) I put my SD card in my Stream, 2) I hooked my Stream to my laptop via USB and with various cables, no less, 3) I powered the Stream on, and 4) started the program and began this process, but no matter what I do, it tells me I can't do this. What am I doing wrong? Lol. I checked to make sure my SD card wasn't locked, and it's a go. I'm about to throw this thing across the room hah. I'm normally not so technologically challenged. XD

Okay, finally got a hold of HumanWare. For anyone else who has had this problem, go to your desktop, cursor over HumanWare Companion, right click and select properties, tab over to Compatibility, tab over to Run as Administrator and check that box. Apply and click okay. Works like a frickin' charm!
